The Hong Kong Jockey Club Life-wide Learning Fund

In view of the popularity of "The Hong Kong Jockey Club Life-wide Learning Fund" among schools and its positive impact on students, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has agreed a new donation of $240 million, enabling the Fund to be extended from 2012/13 for three more years to 2014/15. The Fund aims to enable financially needy students from P1 to S6 students to participate in Life-wide Learning programmes organised or recognised by schools for whole-person development. The following are those eligible students:

(i)  receiving "Comprehensive Social Security Scheme" (CSSA), or
(ii)  receiving full grant under School Textbook Assistance Scheme (full grant), or
(iii)  meeting the school's established “financially needy” criteria.

Students can be classified as meeting condition (iii) if schools have a good understanding and acknowledgement of their economic status, even students are unwilling to provide evidences on their CSSA status or family economic backgrounds. Owing to the abrupt changes in the economic situation, more students are possibly in need of the Fund's assistance. Hence schools are urged to use the Fund effectively and ensure students are not deprived of the opportunities in joining LWL activities limited by economic constraints.
