TEXTBOOK COMMITTEE EDUCATION BUREAU

PREAMBLE

  1. The textbooks / learning materials shown on this Recommended Textbook List have been vetted by the appropriate Reviewing Panels of the Bureau's Textbook Committee and are recommended for use in schools. They have been vetted as acceptable in terms of coverage, content, sequence, exercises, language, illustration and format. Schools can make reference to the List when selecting textbooks / learning materials packages, but it is not a compulsory requirement.

  2. Schools may also use learning materials not on the List if they can meet the learning needs of their students. The Education Bureau encourages the use of school-based teaching / learning materials. Teachers are encouraged to exercise their professional judgement in preparing / choosing learning materials and rely less on textbooks. Teachers may make reference to the One-stop Portal for Learning and Teaching Resources.one-stop portal for learning and teaching resources  Chinese Version Only

  3. The year of publication on the List is the year when the textbook is first published after it has passed the vetting by the Reviewing Panel. Schools requiring further clarification may contact the Textbook Committee Secretariat of the Education Bureau.

  4. Those books marked with the word "Reprint" against the title indicates that the books have been reprinted with minor amendments. These books are not new editions as the amount of amendments made is small. Students are therefore not required to purchase the reprinted version since old textbooks can still be used. Teachers should assist students by providing the revised information from the publishers in the form of supplementary sheet or corrigenda to students using the old edition textbooks.

  5. This Recommended Textbook List is updated whenever required.
