Local School Vehicles in Hong Kong

Local School Vehicles for CBS in Hong Kong are local vehicles that are approved by the relevant Government bureaux and departments to provide local school bus service to CBS at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line BCP or are permitted by the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL) to access Lo Wu Station Road (MTRCL Section) adjacent to Lo Wu BCP to carry CBS to school.  These vehicles are not allowed to provide cross-boundary service.

In the 2023/24 school year, local school vehicles at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line BCP serve students residing in Shenzhen and attending (i) kindergartens and primary schools in the North District, Tai Po, Sha Tin, Yuen Long and Tuen Mun or (ii) primary schools in Wong Tai Sin, Tung Chung and Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi Districts in the ‘Choice of Schools List for Central Allocation (for Applicant Children Residing in the Mainland)’(dedicated school net) that have CBS allocated at the Central Allocation Stage under the Primary One Admission System starting from the 2014/15 school year.  Local school vehicles at Lo Wu Station Road (MTRCL Section) only serve students residing in Shenzhen and attending kindergartens and P1 to P6 in schools in the North District.  All CBS taking local school vehilcles via Lok Ma Chau Spur Line BCP and Lo Wu BCP must hold valid Closed Area Permits.

Operation of local school vehicles at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line BCP and Lo Wu BCP is subject to annual review and approval by the Government and the MTRCL respectively.  The Government normally processes applications for local school vehicles for the next school year in May and June, and the updated list of local school vehicles operators is published in July each year.  Upon the release of the application results, relevant bureaux and departments will start to process the applications for Closed Area Permits. Parents should keep close contact with schools and their operators for earliest notification of the latest news and application details of the transportation arrangements for the coming school year.
