Recommended Textbook List
TEXTBOOK COMMITTEE EDUCATION BUREAU
PREAMBLE
-
The textbooks / learning materials / resource packages shown on this Recommended List have been examined by the appropriate Reviewing Panels of the Bureau's Textbook Committee and are recommended for use in schools. They have been vetted as acceptable in terms of coverage, content, sequence, exercises, language, illustration and format. Schools can make reference to the List when selecting textbooks / learning materials / resource packages, but it is not a compulsory requirement.
-
Schools may also use learning materials not on the List if they can meet the learning needs of their students. The Education Bureau encourages the use of school-based teaching / learning materials. Teachers are encouraged to exercise their professional judgement in preparing / choosing learning materials.
-
The editions listed are those which the Reviewing Panels have had the opportunity of examining. Principals / Heads requiring further clarification in this connection should get in touch with the Curriculum Development Institute of the Education Bureau.
-
Those books marked with the word "Reprint" against the title indicates that in addition to the original edition, the book has also been reprinted with minor amendments. These books are not new editions as the amount of amendments made is small. Students are therefore not required to purchase the reprinted version since old textbooks can still be used with teachers' assistance.
- This Recommended List is updated on a monthly basis.
- The Textbook Committee and HKEduCity have jointly launched a textbook discussion platform "Textbook World - Discussion Forum" (URL: http://iworld.hkedcity.net/textbook) for public to share their views on textbooks. Public can express their views in the aspects of content, learning and teaching approach, language and design of textbooks in the "Textbook World - Discussion Forum".
