Placement Assistance to Newly Arrived Children from the the Mainland
*
The Education Bureau operates four Regional Education Offices on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, New Territories East and New Territories West respectively. Parents of newly arrived children can approach any of these offices for assistance in seeking school places.
*
An information leaflet on education with a self-addressed business reply for newly arrived children is available at the Lo Wu entry point, Regional Education Offices under the Education Bureau and Public Enquiry Service Centres under the Home Affairs Department. Parents may fill in the particulars of their newly arrived children requiring schooling and send the returns to the Education Bureau.
*
Upon receipt of the returns, the Placement and Support Section in the Education Bureau will sort them according to the residential area of the children and send the information to the respective School Development Sections under the Regional Education Offices. School Development Officers of the respective School Development Sections will contact the parents and provide assistance in finding school places.
*
Should a School Development Officer fail to find a school place for a newly arrived child or encounter difficulties with schools, the case would be referred to the Placement and Support Section for processing. Children who need special care will be referred to the Special Education Support and Placement Section of the Education Bureau for placement to special schools.
