To be eligible for substantive promotion to a higher rank in aided schools, the candidate must have undertaken relevant training course(s) as stated in the Codes of Aid, or other equivalent training course(s) acceptable to the Incorporated Management Committee / Permanent Secretary for Education.
The specified training courses belong to two categories, viz. refresher training and management training courses. The training requirements for promotion to individual ranks are tabulated at Attachment 1 below. A list of specified/acceptable training courses which are commissioned/funded by the Education Bureau for 2017/18 is at Attachment 2.

For IMC schools, the Incorporated Management Committee can assess whether course(s) undertaken by the candidate is considered as acceptable/equivalent to the training course specified on the basis of the criteria/guiding principles as prescribed in paragraph 3 of Attachment 1.
For non-IMC schools, schools may seek advice on the equivalence of the training course(s) undertaken by the candidate by forwarding copy of the certificate, transcript and official documents showing the course contents and number of contact hours of the course(s) to respective School Development Officer for assessment.
