A： For students receiving CSSA/full grant, the subsidy will be provided to cover the full cost of the mobile computer device and the related items (See Question 8). For each eligible student, there is a maximum level of the subsidy provided which will be adjusted annually according to the movement of the Composite Consumer Price Index. In the 2020/21 school year, the maximum subsidy for CSSA/STAS full grant students is $4,740. For students receiving half grant, the subsidy provided is half of the actual cost of the items up to $2,370.
Example (1): The total cost of item(s) is $4,000
CSSA and STAS full-grant students will receive a subsidy of $4,000;
STAS half-grant students will receive a subsidy of $2,000.
Example (2): The total cost of item(s) is $5,000
CSSA and STAS full-grant students will receive a subsidy of 4,740;
STAS half-grant students will receive a subsidy of $2,370.
Schools should determine the devices on behalf of their students based on the design of their e-learning activities and the needs of students. Besides, schools should also consider parents’ affordability and communicate closely with parents to ensure that they understand the reasons of choosing the device.
