Introduction

School Allocation Exercise 2002 has started. School premises including Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) senior secondary schools, DSS/aided secondary and primary schools, school sites for construction of school, estate kindergartens will be made available for allocation in this exercise.

Allocation of schools will be considered by an independent School Allocation Committee (SAC) PDF (6 KB) comprising officials from the Education Department and non-officials, some of whom are from the education sector. For its power and function, please see Terms of Reference PDF (20 KB).

Allocation of school premises is on a competitive basis. Selection will be based on school sponsoring bodies' proposed school plans for the new schools, including their vision, mission, class structure, admission policy, management and organisation, teaching and learning, support for pupils, school ethos, performance targets and indicators for self-evaluation, etc. [Reference: Criteria for assessment (Annex Ia to guidance notes) PDF (19 KB) and sample of school plan (Annex Ib to guidance notes) MS Word (40 KB)]
