“SOW in Love” Letter Writing Competition ​​​​​​​(Primary/Secondary)

SOW in Love

The “SOW in Love” Letter Writing Competition is organised to enhance students’ language skills and multimodal literacy, nurture their creativity and foster their positive values and attitudes. Students are invited to write a letter to express their love and gratitude towards an entity with a SOW of their choice and create a piece of two-dimensional (2D) artwork to enhance conveyance of meaning and visual representation of the letter. For more details, please click here. In support of the Competition, learning and teaching resources at primary and secondary levels have been developed.

Primary Level
 Learning and Teaching Resources on Writing a Letter to Express Love and Gratitude for the “SOW in Love” Letter Writing Competition
Each set of the learning and teaching materials comprises a reading/multimodal text about a famous story/a fantastic person and suggested reading/viewing as well as writing activities with teaching steps to develop students’ language skills, cultivate positive values and attitudes, and nurture their creativity. The writing task provides opportunities for students to write a letter with a SOW of their choice and create a piece of 2D artwork to express their love and gratitude to someone or something.

Secondary Level
SOW in Love (Secondary)
The set of materials for secondary students comprises a set of PowerPoint slides and worksheets, which guide students to write a letter to express their love and gratitude to someone or something dear to the heart. Examples are provided to help students generate ideas through connecting their reading/viewing or personal experiences with a SOW of their own choice and a piece of two-dimensional (2D) artwork created by themselves. Tips are also provided on ways to polish the language and enhance the emotional appeal of the letter.
