Salary Assessment in Aided Schools

Schools have the responsibility to assess the salaries of staff paid under the Salaries Grant in accordance with the stipulations in the Codes of Aid and Guides to Salary Assessment.  EDB would verify the salary assessment made by schools as soon as possible.  However, due to the huge number of salary assessment cases received in particular in the commencement of each school year, we may take quite some time to complete the verification.  Therefore, schools are urged to assess the salaries with great care.

Schools are strongly advised to study Section 1.1 - ‘Basics of salary assessment’ in the Guides to Salary Assessment before they assess the salaries.  Moreover, schools are also reminded to ascertain the acceptance of the teacher’s non-local qualifications (if any) for appointment.

In case the salary assessment made by an aided school is determined to be incorrect, the SMC / IMC of the school should be responsible for the arrangement of rectifying any overpayment or underpayment with the staff concerned.

Teachers / non-teaching staff concerned may also refer to the Codes of Aid and Guides to Salary Assessment which are available on the EDB website for details of salary assessment.
