Community Youth Club (CYC)

The Outstanding Members' Visit (OMV)

As a reward for the enthusiastic service of CYC members, members with good performance are selected by each district executive committee annually to join the OMV. To be consistent with the motto of the CYC – ‘Learn, Be Concerned and Serve’, the OMV aims at broadening members’ horizon by learning and understanding more about the culture, customs and educational development of different overseas places.

Since 1980, the OMV has provided many outstanding members with the chances of overseas exchange. The quota was very limited at the early stage and gradually increased with the development of the CYC. At present, two secondary students and two primary students in each of the eighteen districts can join the OMV. The visited places include Singapore, Japan, England, Canada, Malaysia, China, the United States and Korea, etc.

Eligibility

Primary members: Those who have obtained Primary School Level 1 (Pastel Green Badge) or above endorsed by the CYC Office.

Secondary members: Those who have obtained Secondary School Level 3 (Purple Badge) or above endorsed by the CYC Office.

All candidates should be recommended by their school heads.

Selection Procedure

Each district executive committee arranges interviews for the first round selection. Selected candidates will be recommended for the Education Bureau’s consideration. All selected members should take a series of pre-trip training courses and complete a project after the visit.
