Suggested Activities

 

 

On “Learn”

  • Run group competition on how well members know about their district and how best they are able to locate important places on the district map.
  • Visit spots with values of historical and cultural conservation in district; report to schoolmates on the data collated from the visits.
  • Organize field trip to country park nature trails to collect plant specimens and write study reports of natural ecosystem.
  • Invite district councilors or other professionals like social workers or environmentalists to hold talks in schools for discussion of different district issues.
  • Research and suggest solutions in groups on community problems like traffic, medical and environmental issues.

 

On “Be Concerned”

  • Collect toys before Christmas and send them to homes for children.
  • Hold talks on animal welfare by those organizations which concern animal rights.
  • Make cards for schoolmates to celebrate the Mother's and Father's Days.
  • Organize exchange visits with CYC members of special schools.
  • Run simulation activities for the CYC members to experience the problems faced by the disables in daily lives and to plan service projects for the disables like outdoor activities and visiting centres for the disables.

 

On “Serve”

  • Participate in Cleaning and Greening Scheme like beach cleaning and tree-planting charity activities.
  • Invite horticultural experts to hold school talks to teach planting skills and apply horticulture to beautify school environment.
  • Help flag-selling in flag day.
  • Set game booths for inhabitants of a district in Lunar New Year.
  • Hold New Year celebration in a home for the elderly or Christmas caroling in a home for children.
