Parents’ Seminars on “Senior Secondary Curriculum and Subject Choices” (Pre-recorded video)
The broad and balanced senior secondary curriculum caters for students' diverse learning needs. Apart from four core subjects and participation in “Other Learning Experiences”, students can choose two or three subjects from a number of elective subjects across different Key Learning Areas (including Personal, Social and Humanities Education, Science Education, Technology Education, Arts Education and Physical Education), Applied Learning (ApL) courses and Other Languages for pursuit of personal interests and exploration of future pathways. Among the elective subjects, ApL courses place equal emphasis on practice and theory linked to broad professional and vocational fields, laying a solid foundation for students’ further studies and employment.
In view of the latest development and risk assessment of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Education Bureau (EDB) will pre-record the Parents’ Seminars on “Senior Secondary Curriculum and Subject Choices” this year. Therefore, parents are not required to attend it. The video and presentation slides of the Seminar will be uploaded onto the EDB’s New Academic Structure Web Bulletin (www.edb.gov.hk/nas/en) on 9 April 2021. Parents may visit the above website for the latest development of senior secondary curriculum in order to assist their children in making the informed subject choices.
