Outstanding Teaching Award for Values Education

Background

Education is the good cause of cultivating values.  Fostering students’ development of proper values, instilling in them positive attitudes towards life and enabling them to practise appropriate behaviour have always been the important goals of school education in Hong Kong.  The Education Bureau (EDB) advocates 12 Priority Values and Attitudes (PVAs) as the direction for secondary and primary schools to promote values education.

Education Bureau organised the first “Outstanding Teaching Award for Values Education” in the 2024/25 school year with fruitful results.  In the 2025/26 school year, the “Outstanding Teaching Award for Values Education” continues to encourage teachers, aligning with the school contexts and students’ needs, to integrate the learning content of the cross-curricular domains in values education and the 12 Priority Values and Attitudes (hereafter “PVAs”) into the learning and teaching of various subjects/ cross-disciplinary learning with the approaches of “organic integration” and “natural connection”. Teachers are also encouraged to strengthen the promotion of values education by adopting diversified and innovative strategies in daily classroom learning and teaching activities, with a view to nurturing in students’ proper values, positive attitudes towards life and helping them practise appropriate behaviour across the facets of “cognition, affection and action”.
