To establish a selection Committee

 
  • Members should be highly representative, such as headmaster/headmistress, teachers and parent representatives, to fulfill the principle of fair and open selection.

To formulate the selection tools and criteria

 
  • First round "Talent Pool" selection tools and criteria are listed in a table (see Appendix 4 -10).

First Round Selection

 
  • Invite teachers and parents etc. to nominate the right candidates (see Appendix 11-17).
  • Compile information of the students nominated. (see Appendix 5).
  • Arrange interviews if required (may refer to Appendix 16 and 17).
  • Finalise the list of selected students and the specific programmes offered to them in the next academic year (see Appendix 5).

Announcement of the First Round Selection Results

 
  • Inform parents by letter that their child has been selected as a member of the "Talent Pool"(See Appendix 18).
  • Obtain consent from the selected students and their parents that they will participate actively in the development programme.

  • Invite teachers and parents, etc, to nominate the right candidates
  • Compile information of students nominated
  • Arrange interviews if necessary
  • Finalise the list of selected students from both First Round Selection and the waiting-list. Decide the programmes offered in the next academic year (see Appendix 5 – Summary Table for Selection of Students).

Announcement of the First Round Selection, Waiting-list Selection and Second Round Selection Results

 
  • Inform parents by letter that their child, who has been selected as a member of the "Talent Pool" or has passed the Second Round Selection, can participate in the basic, advanced or specialized training programmes in the next academic year.
  • Collect reply-slips from students and their parents.
