Enhanced NET Scheme in Secondary Schools

Filmit 2020: A Student Film Competition

Filmit 2020 Update

As we are navigating the uncertainty of the global COVID-19 outbreak over the past two months, we are grateful to those of you who still show interest in and enthusiasm about Filmit 2020.

Having spent the last half a year preparing for the competition, we were very much looking forward to your entries in May. However, after much consideration, fully understanding that classes remain suspended in the coming weeks, the NET Section and our partner, European Union Office (EUO) to Hong Kong and Macao, have decided that the best course of action is to postpone the deadline of submission, to the end of September this year.

Postponing the deadline of submission ensures that you and your students will have sufficient time to plan the production of an entry and to attend our workshops, which we still hope to offer at some stage. The new deadline of Filmit 2020 is now 30 September 2020.

Despite the new deadline, everything about Filmit 2020 remains the same, from the theme (Diversity: Celebrating A World of Difference) to the categories (Fiction, Documentary, One-minute Film and Poster Design), from our partners (EUO to Hong Kong and Macao, RTHK and Chinese International School) to the Awards Ceremony (date to be confirmed).

In the meantime, we hope you will continue to access our mini-site at the NET Scheme e-Platform (https://nets.edb.hkedcity.net/page.php?p=316), where you get updates on the competition, as well as access to the winning entries from Filmit 2019. For now, if you have any questions about the new deadline and the competition-related workshops, please drop us a line at williamchcheng@edb.gov.hk.

Together, let’s make Filmit 2020 happen.
