Hong Kong Teachers’ Exchange Activities to the Mainland (2025/26)


The theme is “Integrating Reading and Writing Experiences: Diversified Approaches to Nurture Students’ English Literacy and Confidence”

Stage 1
Date: 9 – 11 March, 2026
Location: Hong Kong

Mainland exchange representatives: Representatives from the Department of Education, Guangdong and Heyuan, Heyuan Teacher Development Centre, and Heyuan primary and secondary school English teachers.
At this stage, activities were mainly about professional development conducted by EDB officers from different sections and two school visits including lesson observations.

Stage 2
Date: 23-27 March and 13-17 April 2026
Location: Heyuan City


Hong Kong exchange representatives: A total of 10 support officers from the Education Bureau, Hong Kong and 6 Hong Kong primary and secondary school English teachers

At this stage, activities were mainly about seminars conducted by Hong Kong teachers in Heyuan, collaborative lesson planning, lesson observations and post-lesson discussions among Hong Kong and Heyuan teachers.  There were also cross-school activities and dissemination in April as a showcase.

Highlights:


Hong Kong exchange representatives took a group photo with the leaders and teachers in the Mainland.

Mainland teachers participated in a professional development activity about nurturing students’ English writing competence.

Hong Kong exchange representatives had a collaborative lesson planning with the teachers in a Heyuan primary school.

Hong Kong exchange representatives conducted a sharing about English teaching strategies.


Hong Kong exchange representatives had a cross-school lesson observation with the teachers in a Heyuan primary school.

Hong Kong exchange representatives participated in the cross-school post-lesson discussion with the teachers from Heyuan secondary schools.
