[Archive] Mainland Higher Education Expo 2011

The Vice-Premier of the State Council, Mr. LI Keqiang, announced during his visit to Hong Kong in August the Central People’s Government’s package of measures to support social and economic development in Hong Kong .  These include the implementation of a pilot scheme (Chinese Version Only) whereby some Mainland higher education institutions would admit Hong Kong students and exempt them from Mainland examinations.  Under the new measure, starting from 2012, some Mainland higher education institutions would participate in a pilot scheme to exempt Hong Kong students from the Joint Entrance Examination for Universities and admit Hong Kong students based on their results in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examinations and Hong Kong Advanced Level Examinations.

To enable students and parents to know more about the scheme and latest development on studying at Mainland higher education institutions, the Ministry of Education and Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will jointly organise the Mainland Higher Education Expo 2011.  The details are as follows:

Date:     10-11 December 2011 (Saturday and Sunday)

Time:     10:30am to 5:30pm

Venue:   Queen Elizabeth School (152, Sai Yee Street , Mongkok, Kowloon )

During the Expo, representatives of the Ministry of Education will speak on the application procedures and arrangement for studying in the Mainland.  63 Mainland higher education institutions participating in the pilot scheme will set up booths at the Expo and hold talks to disseminate information on studying in the Mainland, including the departments and disciplines, tuition fees and admission requirements etc.  There will also be sharing sessions for Hong Kong students graduating from Mainland universities, managerial staff of executive search agencies and large enterprises to share their experiences on studying at Mainland universities and the employment prospects of graduates.
