Cross-Boundary School Coaches

Cross-boundary school coaches (CBSC) are coaches that are granted special quotas by the Government to provide cross-boundary coach service for CBS.  Operators must have had a regular quota to provide cross-boundary coach service at designated BCPs when applying for a special quota to operate CBSC for CBS.

The CBS eligible for using CBSC services in the 2023/24 school year are as follows:

Applicable to Man Kam To BCP
CBS residing in Shenzhen and attending

(i) kindergartens and P1 to P6 in schools in the North, Tai Po, Sha Tin, Yuen Long and Tuen Mun districts or
(ii) P1 to P6 in schools in Wong Tai Sin, Tung Chung, Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi districts in the ‘Choice of Schools List for Central Allocation (for Applicant Children Residing in the Mainland)’ that have CBS allocated at the Central Allocation Stage under the Primary One Admission System starting from the 2014/15 school year;

Applicable to Shenzhen Bay Port, Lok Ma Chau (Huanggang) and Heung Yuen Wai BCPs
CBS residing in Shenzhen and attending

(i) kindergartens, primary schools and S1 to S3 in schools in the North, Tai Po, Sha Tin, Yuen Long and Tuen Mun districts or
(ii) primary schools in Wong Tai Sin, Tung Chung, Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi districts in the ‘Choice of Schools List for Central Allocation (for Applicant Children Residing in the Mainland)’ that have CBS allocated at the Central Allocation Stage under the Primary One Admission System starting from the 2014/15 school year;

Applicable to Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port
CBS residing in Zhuhai and attending

(i) primary schools in Wong Tai Sin, Tuen Mun, Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi districts in the ‘Choice of Schools List for Central Allocation (for Applicant Children Residing in the Mainland)’ that have CBS allocated at the Central Allocation Stage under the Primary One Admission System starting from the 2014/15 school year or
(ii) kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools in Tung Chung district.

The Government provides ‘On-board Clearance Service’ on Hong Kong side for CBS taking CBSC with special quotas at Man Kam To, Lok Ma Chau (Huanggang) and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port.  When performing ‘On-board Clearance Service’, staff from the Department of Health, Immigration Department and Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department will board the coach and carry out necessary examination and check on students who have registered to use ‘On-board Clearance Service’.  This service is not applicable to passengers travelling on cross-boundary coaches operated with regular quotas.

Operation of CBSC with special quotas is subject to annual review and approval.  The Government normally processes applications for CBSC with special quotas for the next school year in May and June.  Parents should keep close contact with schools and their operators for earliest notification of the latest news and application details of the transportation arrangements for the coming school year.
