Professional Development Programme (PDP) for Newly Appointed Principals (NAPs)


Description

The two-year PDP is designed to equip NAPs with the necessary knowledge and skills for school management, broaden their inter-disciplinary perspectives, and enhance their foresight and insight into school leadership. It features diverse content including thematic talks, workshops, visits, forums, etc..


Learning Activity Highlights

Thematic Talks

To facilitate the NAPs mastering school management skills and relevant regulations, expert speakers, experienced principals and representatives from various organizations are invited to serve as guest speakers for various thematic talks. The topics include “T-Standard+” and the professional roles of principals, staff management, financial management, the Constitution, the Basic Law and national security education, as well as frontier development in education.




Workshops

The programme arranged workshops on various themes (such as leadership, navigating the media and crisis management, professional image and etiquette, etc.), enabling the NAPs to acquire leadership and management related skills through cases discussion, role-play activities, etc.




Visits

To broaden the inter-disciplinary perspectives of the NAPs, the programme arranges visits to various organizations, allowing them to exchange leadership insights with the leaders and gain inspiration as well as innovation for school leadership. Organizations visited in past cohorts of the programme include The Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, Wheelock Properties, Lukfook Jewellery, the Airport Authority Hong Kong, etc..




Forums

The programme organizes forums on various themes (such as leadership and management, promoting positive school environment, etc.). Leaders from different sectors and experienced principals are invited to serve as guest speakers and share their experiences with the NAPs.
