Objectives

• To further engage students in developing an active and healthy lifestyle, the Education Bureau (EDB) has launched the “Active Students, Active People” (ASAP) Campaign to rally the concerted efforts of schools, families and different stakeholders in society for promoting an optimised sports atmosphere in schools and encouraging students to engage in regular exercises as soon as possible.

Sharing Session by Elite Athletes cum Table Tennis Exchange Demonstration

In response to the opening of the 15th NG, EDB will organise the “Sharing Session by Elite Athletes cum Table Tennis Exchange Demonstration” at HKUGA College on 17 October 2025 (Friday). Under the ASAP Campaign, EDB invites Ms LEE Ho-ching, MH and Ms SOO Wai-yam, MH, the bronze medallists of the Women’s Team Table Tennis Event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to share their experiences and challenges in training and competition, and encourage students to develop various positive values and attitudes, including perseverance, diligence and willingness to accept challenges. They will also conduct an exchange demonstration with the students on site to enhance their understanding and interest in table tennis, encourage them to engage in table tennis and other regular exercises, and promote a sporting ambience in schools.

2024/25 School Year Activities

Sharing Session by Elite Athletes cum Fencing Exchange Demonstration

In response to welcoming the 200-day countdown for the 15th NG, the EDB will organise the “Sharing Session by Elite Athletes cum Fencing Exchange Demonstration” on 29April2025 (Tuesday). Under the ASAP Campaign, the EDB invites Mr FONG Hoi-sun, an elite athlete of the Hong Kong, China fencing team, to share his experiences and challenges in training and competition, and encourage students to develop various positive values and attitudes, including perseverance, diligence and willingness to accept challenges.  He will also conduct an exchange demonstration with the students on-site to enhance their understanding and interest in fencing, encourage them to engage in regular exercise, and promote a sporting ambience in schools.

15th National Games One-year Countdown Sharing Session cum Futsal Exchange Demonstration – EDBCM No. 225/2024

In response to this major sports event, the EDB will organise the “15th National Games One-year Countdown Sharing Session cum Futsal Exchange Demonstration” at C.C.C. Heep Woh Primary School (Cheung Sha Wan) on 22 November 2024 (Friday). Mr CHUNG Chi-kwong, Honorary Fellow of The Education University of Hong Kong and renowned sport commentator, is invited to be the guest speaker to share valuable experience in interviewing and commenting on major sports events, as well as guiding students to appreciate and grasp the highlights of the NG.

Sharing Sessions by Elite Athletes (I) cum Volleyball Exchange Demonstration

The sharing session will be led by active or former members of the Hong Kong, China volleyball team, who are currently serving as physical education teachers.  They will introduce the basic knowledge and rules, demonstrate different skills and proceed to an exchange demonstration to enhance students’ knowledge and enjoyment of volleyball.  They will also share with students their challenges in training and competitions, encourage students to develop positive values and attitudes, such as perseverance, diligence and willingness to accept challenges, and inspire them to pursue their dreams and stretch their potential.

2022/23 School Year Activities

Active Students, Active People” Campaign: Sharing Sessions by Elite Athletes (III) cum 3-on-3 Basketball Exchange Demonstration

The 3rd sharing session featured in an urban sport namely 3-on-3 basketball was led by seven physical education (PE) teachers, who are also active or former members of the Hong Kong, China basketball team.  They shared with students their challenges in training and competitions, encourage students to develop positive values and attitudes, such as perseverance, diligence and willingness to accept challenges, and inspire them to pursue their dreams and stretch their potential.  They also introduced the basic knowledge and rules, demonstrate different skills and proceed to an exchange demonstration to enhance students’ knowledge and enjoyment of 3-on-3 basketball.  The seven PE teachers are KOON Kin-ho, LEE Ki, WONG Tsz-ching, WONG Yan-ling, WONG Ka-man, WONG Chun-wai and HUI Huen-hang respectively (listed in arbitrary order).

Sharing Sessions by Elite Athletes cum Rope Skipping Fun Day

The “Sharing Sessions by Elite Athletes cum Rope Skipping Fun Day: Rope Skipping into an Active Lifestyle” was successfully held on 22 February 2023.  Mr HO Chu-ting, Mr LAU Pan-hei and Ms LEE Sum-yi were invited to share their stories and success in the sharing session.  The three elite athletes not only shared with students their challenges in training and competition, but also introduced and demonstrated different rope skipping skills, and encouraged them to maintain a moderate amount of physical activities outside the school.

Sharing Sessions by Elite Athletes (I): No Boundaries for Rugby     

The first sharing session in the 2022/23 school year was held on 21 October 2022, featured by Salom YIU, SHAM Wai-sum, Brandon HUANG, Ricky CHEUK and Malcolm LAI, elite rugby players of Hong Kong, China.  With their consistent standout performances in regional tournaments, the Men’s team clutched a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games, Jakarta and secured Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 qualification at the Asia Rugby Sevens Series in 2021.  The Women’s squad also made the final of the Olympic repechage in Monaco in 2021.

Sharing Sessions by Elite Athletes: The Power of Pedal - LEE Wai-Sze

The sharing session “The Power of Pedal - LEE Wai-sze” was held on 14 January 2022.  LEE Wai-sze is the first Hong Kong world champion in women’s cycling competitions, and has brought Hong Kong honour in the international sporting arena with outstanding results.

Sharing Sessions by Elite Athletes: Windsurf with Chan Hei-man

The sharing session “Windsurf with Chan Hei-man” was held on 19 November 2021.  CHAN Hei-man was crowned one gold and two silver medals at the 2010, 2014 and 2018 Asian Games.  In the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, she finished an impressive eighth in the overall women’s RS: X fleet windsurfing event.

Sharing Sessions by Elite Athletes: The Power of Fencing - YU Chui-yee
Ms YU Chui-yee was invited to share her stories and success in the first sharing session.  She is the seven-time Paralympic Gold Medallist and is awarded the honors including Bronze Bauhinia Star and the Top 10 Outstanding Youths for her outstanding achievements in wheelchair fencing, etc.
