A: When schools apply for the Funding Programme for new / transferred students, schools should find out whether they have already acquired mobile computer devices through the Community Care Fund (CCF) Assistance Programme (or other assistance programmes) (please refer to the Sample Parent Reply Slip provided by the Education Bureau)
Normally, if students have already acquired mobile computer devices under the CCF Assistance Programme, schools can apply for the Funding Programme to purchase suitable devices for loan to them provided that their devices have been used for more than three years and are unable to operate / meet the schools’ new learning and teaching requirements. Students may keep their original devices and are not required to return them. If the new school and the original school use devices with the same operating system for e-learning, schools should address the issue as mentioned above.
If the new school and the original school use devices with different operating system, which is not under the control of an individual school or the student, the Education Bureau would exercise discretion to approve the new school’s application for purchasing suitable devices for these students under the Funding Programme to meet their e-learning needs. Students are not required to return their devices to the original school.
If schools would like to know the eligibility of new / transferred students, including whether they have received the subsidy from CCF Assistance Programme in their original schools or not, please contact the Information Technology in Education Section of the Education Bureau. For details, please refer to the website of the Education Bureau at https://www.edb.gov.hk/ited/qeffp/pre-checking.
