Exciting Asian Games – Vitality Fitness Walking / Running / Skipping Challenge cum MVPA60 Award Scheme new!
The 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 (Hangzhou 2022) will be held from 23 September to 8 October 2023. In support of this major sporting event, EDB has developed a fun race of “Exciting Asian Games – Vitality Fitness Walking / Running / Skipping Challenge” to enhance students’ understanding of the Asian Games and their sense of national identity. Participating students who complete specified tasks within the period from 3 July to 27 August 2023 (8 weeks in total) will receive an individual award under the MVPA60 Award Scheme. Video of Sharing Session@EMMSharing Sessions by Elite Athletes (I): No Boundaries for Rugby
The first sharing session in the 2022/23 school year was held on 21 October 2022, featured by Salom YIU, SHAM Wai-sum, Brandon HUANG, Ricky CHEUK and Malcolm LAI, elite rugby players of Hong Kong, China. With their consistent standout performances in regional tournaments, the Men’s team clutched a gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games, Jakarta and secured Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 qualification at the Asia Rugby Sevens Series in 2021. The Women’s squad also made the final of the Olympic repechage in Monaco in 2021.

Under the “ASAP” Campaign, the EDB has been organising different activities for primary and secondary students, including a fun race of “Vitality Fitness Walking/Running Challenge” (“Challenge”). The EDB wishes to express gratitude to WONG Chak-lam, Coleman, elite tennis player, for his support to the production of these two short videos. Key messages of the World Health Organisation’s recommendation that children and adolescents aged 5-17 should accumulate at least an average of 60 minutes daily of moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activities (i.e. MVPA60) across the week, demonstration of simple exercises and result announcement of the Challenge were included. Coleman won two tennis Grand Slams - the US Open Junior and Australian Open Junior (Doubles) in September 2021 and January 2022, bringing Hong Kong's fame and success in international sporting events.

Sharing Sessions by Elite Athletes: The Power of Pedal - LEE Wai-Sze
The sharing session “The Power of Pedal - LEE Wai-sze” was held on 14 January 2022. LEE Wai-sze is the first Hong Kong world champion in women’s cycling competitions, and has brought Hong Kong honour in the international sporting arena with outstanding results.

Sharing Sessions by Elite Athletes: Windsurf with Chan Hei-man
The sharing session “Windsurf with Chan Hei-man” was held on 19 November 2021. CHAN Hei-man was crowned one gold and two silver medals at the 2010, 2014 and 2018 Asian Games. In the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, she finished an impressive eighth in the overall women’s RS: X fleet windsurfing event.

Sharing Sessions by Elite Athletes: The Power of Fencing - YU Chui-yee
Ms YU Chui-yee was invited to share her stories and success in the first sharing session. She is the seven-time Paralympic Gold Medallist and is awarded the honors including Bronze Bauhinia Star and the Top 10 Outstanding Youths for her outstanding achievements in wheelchair fencing, etc.

School Physical Fitness Award Scheme 2022/23 and Pandemic Challenge – Fitness Challenges at Home Scheme 2022/23
The School Physical Fitness Award Scheme (SPFAS) and the Pandemic Challenge – Fitness Challenges at Home Scheme are jointly organised by the Hong Kong Childhealth Foundation (HKCHF), the Physical Fitness Association of Hong Kong, China (HKPFA) and the Education Bureau (EDB) to promote physical activities and health-related fitness among primary and secondary students. It also enhances students’ awareness of physical fitness and encourages their regular participation in physical activities at school and at home to achieve MVPA60.

“Dance for Health”
In support of the ASAP Campaign, a new category of “Dance for Health” will be introduced in the 58th Schools Dance Festival to encourage students to participate actively in physical activities so as to develop a habit of regular exercising.
