General Information on Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System

 

Admission to Secondary 1 (S1) in September 2021

Discretionary Places (DP)

  • Application to government, aided and caput schools as well as Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) secondary schools participating in SSPA

      • Submit the Application Form for Secondary One Discretionary Place and documents required to the school direct from 4 January to 18 January 2021
      • Secondary schools participating in SSPA will notify parents of successful DP applicants of their children's inclusion in the Successful Lists for Discretionary Places on 31 March 2021
      • If student-applicants are admitted by participating secondary schools or Jockey Club Ti-I College at DP stage, the secondary school concerned will call the parents to inform them of the application results and the related arrangements on 6 July 2021, i.e. the date of announcement of the allocation results



  • Application for a subsidised S1 place for 2021/22 school year

      • Applicants* may apply for a subsidised S1 place from May to August 2021.  Places available after Central Allocation will be allocated to eligible applicants by the EDB.  Applicants may choose to submit their applications by visiting the School Places Allocation (SPA) Section in person or by post/email
        • Visiting the SPA Section in person: Parents may visit the SPA Section during the office hours for submitting the application.  Parents should bring along with the originals of student applicant's identity documents upon submission of application concernedNote
        • By post/email: Parents may download and submit the duly completed application form, together with the copies of student applicant's identity documents, to the SPA Section by post or email to sspalatepart@edb.gov.hk (For details, please refer to the procedure for submission of application in the application form).  For any enquiries regarding submission of application by post/email, please contact the designated hotline of the SPA Section during office hours at 2832 7683 or 2832 7694

      • The results of the first batch of applications will be announced on 6 July 2021, the second batch by the end of July, the third batch in mid-August, and thereafter students will be informed individually

[*Eligibility for application: Applicants must be a Hong Kong resident, have never been allocated an S1 place through SSPA and have never studied in government, aided, caput, DSS secondary schools and English Schools Foundation secondary schools.]

[Note: If parents could not submit the application in person, he/she may authorise in writing a representative to proceed the related procedures on his/her behalf.  The authorised person should bring along with the original of letter of authorisation signed by parent (Please click here to download Sample Letter of Authorisation), the copy of parent's identity document, the originals of student applicant's identity documents and the copy of student applicant's birth certificate.]
